The Vines are the last Aussie act to make the cut for the set list of the latest game in the Guitar Hero franchise, Guitar Hero Live.
Their 2014 comeback track Metal Zone features in the latest round of additions to the game’s playlist, which also includes tunes by OneRepublic, Paramore, The Mowgli’s, Asking Alexandria, Wolf Alice, Disturbed, TV On The Radio, Foster The People and Cypress Hill ft. Tom Morello.
The new recruits join a list of acts bigger than Yngwie Malmsteen’s guitarsenal, including fellow Aussies Wolfmother, Angus & Julia Stone, Jet and Courtney Barnett.
There are a number of eclectic additions to the revamped Guitar Hero playlist which, on top of more traditional riff-driven rock and metal acts like Judas Priest, Pantera and System Of A Down, also features the likes of Skrillex and The Lumineers.
But purists who feel dismayed by some of the stranger additions to the new Guitar Hero world can rest assured that the rest of the playlist reads like a Soundwave best-of.
Those who pre-order the game will even be treated to three exclusive new songs by SW13 headliners, Avenged Sevenfold.
Guitar Hero Live, which has officially been rated “M” here in Australia, will also feature a bunch of new upgrades when it’s released on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Wii U and mobile this December.
