Having already successfully completed one Australia-wide tour in this year, folk rock trio The Waifs are back at it again with a huge run of dates. Through November and December The Waifs will play 13 gigs, including sets at Gorgeous Festival and Queenscliff Music Festival.
Waifs guitarist and singer Vikki Thorn describes the band’s previous 2014 tour as “a bit of medicine” that left Thorn and her bandmates eager to return to the road. “It really was one of the best tours in terms of feeling connected to our music again and enjoying one another’s company.”
The tour will be the first time since 2011 The Waifs bring along a full backing band. Also joining The Waifs for a run of dates in December is Melbourne singer-songwriter Liz Stringer, while alt country act Sal Kimber and The Rollin’ Wheel will support The Waifs at The Corner Hotel on Monday, 1st December.
Before kicking off their latest tour The Waifs will perform with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra in Thorn and fellow Waif Donna Simpson’s childhood hometown of Albany. The special performance is part of Anzac Albany, which commemorates 100 year since Australian soldiers first shipped out for WWI. For more information visit Anzac Albany.
