A three-year love affair between Tim Rogers and The Bamboos has just gone next level, with the group getting ready to bind their union by giving birth to a debut album. The forthcoming full-length, entitled The Rules of Attraction, is due out next month, with a huge national tour to follow.
The soul rock merchants’ five-date headlining trek will traverse Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth this June and July, with the band performing new material off the forthcoming disc, as well as old tracks from their own extensive back catalogues, and some “carefully hand-picked covers”.
“Today is the day!” The Bamboos posted on their official Facebook page. “We can finally tell you that our brand new album with Tim Rogers is called The Rules Of Attraction and will be out on 22nd May on Atlantic Records!”
First single, Easy, is on your radio waves right now, and will be available to stream and download this Friday. You should definitely do at least one of those things.
Produced by Bamboos bandleader Lance Ferguson and long-time cohort John Castle (Vance Joy, Josh Pyke, The Drones), The Rules of Attraction follows on from the project’s first musical outing in 2012 with the two-time ARIA nominated track I Got Burned .
They first announced plans to make an album together in August of last year. “It’s kind of funny how these things play out in,” Ferguson says. “Easy started because I wanted to make a Bamboos song that sounded a bit like The Police…I am a massive Andy Summers fan.
“Of course it sounds nothing like that it the end. In fact this song sat around for a bit because it was waiting for the right fit, the missing jigsaw piece. It took Tim to crack the code”.
