Bring out the pink sweaters! Tina Fey has confirmed that she will definitely be making a musical of her cult teen movie Mean Girls within the next few years.
The SNL-bred writer of 30 Rock has mentioned the project in the past, and confirmed it in a Times Talk for her new film, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, saying, “Yes. It is happening. It’s only… years away.”
Mean Girls starred Lindsay Lohan and Rachel McAdams and became a public obsession soon after its release, spreading catch phrases like “So fetch,” and, “She doesn’t even go here!” like wildfire.
Fey said that she’s writing the script for the musical with her husband, composer Jeff Richmond, and is also working with Nell Benjamin, who was involved in the Legally Blonde musical adaptation. But whatever.
