Tired Lion Lead The Nominees For The 2016 WA Music Awards

UPDATE 04/11/16: The winners of the 2016 WA Music Awards have been revealed.

ORIGINAL STORY: The nominees have been revealed and voting is open for the 2016 Western Australian Music Awards.

This year’s nominations are lead by 2015 triple j Unearthed winners Tired Lion, who have nabbed six nominations. Other multiple nominees include Koi Child, Hideous Sun Demon, Verge Collection, Rag n’ Bone, Methyl Ethel and Lucy Peach.

Categories range all the way from craft awards, to genre and industry-based awards, as well as a bunch of public-voted awards for most popular act, new act, live act, music video, venue and event.

Last year the awards were absolutely dominated by Kevin Parker’s Tame Impala, who took out four gongs from their six nominations, while Tired Lion, Methyl Ethel and KUČKA also nabbed multiple gongs.

Western Australia Music has also revealed that the WAMAwards party will take place on Thursday, 3rd November at the Gate One Theatre inside Claremont Showgrounds, with performances from several local acts to take place.
