Travis Barker Shares Statement After ‘Life-Threatening’ Hospitalisation

Travis Barker has given fans an update on his current health situation after being swiftly hospitalised last week. In a series of Tweets shared this morning, Barker explained that he is doing “much better” after suffering from pancreatitis. Barker first raised concerns early on Wednesday morning when he shared a cryptic Tweet saying “God save me”.

Soon after, it was confirmed that the Blink-182 drummer had been admitted to hospital for unspecified reasons. However, as Rolling Stone reports, Barker had been working on Machine Gun Kelly’s song ‘God Save Me’ the previous evening, so it’s unclear if the Tweet was related to his health issues.

Barker developed “excruciating pain” after endoscopy

Earlier today, Barker gave fans an update in regards to his current situation, explaining that he had initially gone into hospital on Monday to undergo an endoscopy. “But after dinner,” he wrote on Twitter, “I developed excruciating pain and have been hospitalized ever since.”

He continued the explanation in a follow-up tweet, writing, “During the endoscopy, I had a very small polyp removed right in a very sensitive area, usually handled by specialists, which unfortunately damaged a critical pancreatic drainage tube. This resulted in severe life-threatening pancreatitis.

“I am so very very grateful that with intensive treatment I am currently much better.”

Barker’s health was previously of great concern to fans back in 2008 after he was one of two survivors of a plane crash in South Carolina. Barker has struggled with a fear of flying ever since, which has resulted in his being absent from Australian shores.
