Lochlan Watt was MIA from his regularly scheduled gig hosting triple j’s The Racket this week, and now we know why.
The metalhead dropped everything to fly to the US and join Thy Art Is Murder on their whopping 39-date Coffin Dragger tour, which kicks off in Arizona tonight.
Watt, who also fronts burning-churchcore act COLOSSVS, is filling in on vocal duties for now-ex frontman CJ McMahon, who left the band late last year citing the devastating financial toll of life in a touring band.
COLOSSVS and Thy Art actually have a history of touring together, which is probably how the latter band knew that Watt was the right man for the job:
We are going on tour with some male models next month.. pick up a ticket to the hunk show at http://thyartismurder.oztix.com.au/

The blonde-locked headbanger revealed the big news of their team-up on Instagram today, explaining how it all went down: “At 5pm on Friday afternoon I got a message asking if I had a valid passport. Landed in Tucson, Arizona, USA on Monday. Tonight I play my first of 39 shows singing for Thy Art Is Murder. Woah.”
Social media has been blowing up with support for the “mad dog” triple j host, who swung into action on such short notice.
TAIM recently tapped Molotov Solution frontman Nick Arthur to sub in for CJ, but right now it’s unclear whether Arthur, Watt, or some TBA third party will be taking up the position on a permanent basis.
In the meantime, we wouldn’t say no to an Australian tour with Watt up front.
Just sayin’.
