Triple J Hottest 100 2013: The Midway Report

50 down, 50 to go – things are beginning to take shape in the Hottest 100 2013, with Queens Of the Stone Age, Disclosure, Bring Me The Horizon, Cloud Control, Illy, Bliss N Eso and Andy Bull leading the pack, each with two entries in the 100-50 bracket.

Australia has the largest representation of any country so far, with 23 of the 50 songs revealed so far, followed up by the US with 15, UK with 8, Canada 2 then France and Norway with one apiece.

17 artists have broken their Hottest 100 cherry so far, Norwegian singer-songwriter Mikhael Paskalev and Scottish indie trio CHVRCHES amongst them. Haim just missed out a top 100 place last year and now sit just outside the top 50 with If I Could Change Your Mind

Locally, triple j Unearthed 2013 winner Remi takes his first Hottest 100 place, Kingswood just miss out on the top 50 with Ohio and Sydney synth popper Andy Bull has made two appearances on debut.

Meanwhile, the Warmest 100 keeps its decidely warm reputation in tact, with its only correct prediction so far being Disclosure and AlunaGeorge at number 69. 38 of the songs revealed so far ranked in the Warmest 100.

Vance Joy, Chet Faker and Daft Punk have already made appearances but are likely to start stacking numbers in the top end of the list.
