Urthboy & His All-Star Crew Cover Meg Mac For Epic Final ‘Like A Version’ Of 2015

Triple j have arguably saved the best Like A Version for last, with the final 2015 instalment of the weekly covers segment going off the freaking chain.

Urthboy did the honours, putting the cherry on top of a bonza year of Versions with a cover of Meg Mac‘s Roll Up Your Sleeves. But he didn’t do it alone.

The Sydney MC was joined by an all-star crew, including L Dubs from Hermitude, All Our Exes Live In Texas on backing vocals, beatboxer Tom Thum and dynamite newcomer Kira Puru taking the reigns on lead vocals (and doing Meg Mac well proud).

Together, they delivered a finger-clicking, heart-swelling rendition of the bluesy track with Urthboy rapping the verses over uplifting, gospel choir-style backing vocals, prompting many listeners to call in and gush about it being the best Like A Version of the year.

Whether or not you agree with that claim, it’s impossible to deny that this performance is pretty effing flawless. Just try not to raise your fist triumphantly to the heavens during the final a cappella chorus.

During the session, Urthboy also performed his own track Long Loud Hours with special guest, Bertie Blackman. Check out the Roll Up Your SleevesLike A Version class of 2015.
