WAM Festival Reveals 2014 Details

West Australian Music Festival has revealed its first round of announcements for this year’s event, and there’s a whole butt-load of ’em. In addition to the usual music awards and conference speakers, WAM Festival 2014 will be introducing a Block Party headed by Perth band The Love Junkies.

WAM Festival 2014 will get underway on Thursday, 6th November with an opening party at The Bakery Northbridge. The evening, kicking off at 7pm and only costing $15 per ticket, is jammed pack with talent, including DJ Jamie Mac, Fait, Hideous Sun Demon and Mt Mountain.

If 15 bucks is too steep, the aforementioned inaugural Block Party is giving up the goods for free. Along with The Love Junkies, the Block Party will feature Slumberjack, Coin Banks, KUČKA, and Gunns, plus more acts to be announced.

The Block Party is part of WAM Festival 2014’s Saturday Spectacular on Saturday, 8th November. WAM has declared that the evening, to be held at Roe St Wilson Car Park, will be “a massive night of free 18+ entertainment”.

WA Music Craft Awards and WA Music Awards will both unfold on Friday, 7th November. The WA Music Craft Awards will see performances from DJ Craig Hollywood and Lower Spectrum, while the WA Music Awards’ musical entertainment comes courtesy of Sable and Timothy Nelson & The Infidels.

Last year’s WA Music Awards saw Tame Impala dominate proceedings, walking away with WAMIs for Group Of The Year, Album Of The Year, Single Of The Year, and Music Video Of The Year.

WAM has also announced its first round of speakers for the WA Music Conference. Among the many names are Bob Gordon from X-Press Magazine, Heath Bradby of Warner Music Australia, and Sounds Australia’s Esti Zilber.
