Warrant Frontman Jani Lane Found Dead

Jani Lane was found dead in his Hotel room on Thursday night; he was 47. Lane was the former frontman in hair metal band Warrant,  who were best known for the track Cherry Pie. The cause of death is still unknown but Lane had a history of alcohol abuse. He served 120 days in Jail when he was arrested for DUI in 2010. Lane’s body was found at the Comfort Inn hotel in Woodland Hills, CA.

Lane first left Warrant in March 1993 but returned to the band in September 1994, helping the band to secure a new record with Tom Lipsky of CMC International. The band then recorded Ultraphobic in 1995, Belly to Belly in 1996, Greatest & Latest in 1999 and a cover album Under the Influence in 2001.

Due to personal and business disagreements, Lane quit Warrant again in 2004 but returned again In January 2008. It was the first time that all original members had been in the band since 1992.

Lane also had a semi-successful solo career; he released Back Down To One in 2003 in Europe and (2006) in the US on Immortal/Sidewinder Records.
