Bon Iver treated fans to the live debut of their new album 22, A Million in its entirety on Friday night at frontman Justin Vernon’s Eaux Claires Festival in Wisconsin, and footage of the set has now made its way online.
Bon Iver fans went into last weekend frothing at the prospect of a long-awaited follow-up to the band’s 2011 self-titled album. Last week the band teased that the new release would be with us soon with a series of Instagram posts suggesting that Vernon’s own Eaux Claires Festival would be the place for the debut. Bon Iver then dropped two songs from the record, as well as a tracklist, and the announcement that the album would be titled 22, A Million.
Debuting the album in full at Eaux Claires Music Festival, Bon Iver again showed off its two previously released tracks 10 d E A T h b R E a s T ⚄ ⚄ and 22 (OVER S∞∞N), and also some revamped arrangements of old classics including Minnesota, WI and Beth/Rest featuring Bruce Hornsby.
The festival featured an incredible closing set by Francis and the Lights, who also unveiled their new album. Francis was joined by Chance The Rapper and Bon Iver to perform Friends and Chance’s own track Summer Friends, with some awesome choreographed dance moves thrown in.
Check out fan videos of the closing set, as well as Bon Iver’s full set, below. 22, A Million will be released Friday, 30th September.
