Watch Boy & Bear Cover Simple Minds’ ‘Don’t You (Forget About Me)’ For Triple J Like A Version

Boy & Bear were up for the latest instalment of beloved triple j segment, Like A Version. The band took Annie Hamilton along with them to perform a very cool and breezy cover of Simple Minds’ ‘Don’t You (Forget About Me)’.

They keep the very core structure of the song there, delivering the chorus in all its truest glory. But they take their time building to that original pace.

It starts off really slow, showing off those signature Boy & Bear vocals before eventually speeding up and letting frontman Dave Hosking absolutely rip into that chorus.

They explained why Annie Hamilton was such an essential element of the cover.

“If we could get a female vocalist on it, I think it’s going to really lift that energy and embrace a bit more of a party vibe,” said Dave in their Behind the Like A Version interview.

“We heard Annie and we just thought, she just has such a charm to her voice and such an honesty, that we thought she’d be a good fit.”

Along with the cover, they delivered a performance of their original track from 2019, ‘Hold Your Nerve’.

It was an extremely experienced Like A Version studio today. Boy & Bear had returned for their third Like A Version and Annie Hamilton her second.

Boy & Bear have covered Amy Winehouse’s ‘Back to Black’ and Empire of the Sun’s ‘Walking On A Dream’ previously.

Hamilton had previously covered Methyl Ethel’s ‘Ubu’ back in August last year.
