Watch Chad Smith’s Daughter Turn A Chili Peppers’ Song Into A Piano Ballad

The Red Hot Chili Peppers gene has been passed down to drummer Chad Smith‘s daughter, who’s just covered one of her dad’s songs.

LA singer-songwriter Ava Maybee has transformed the Chili’s 2002 hit ‘Universally Speaking’ into a delicate piano ballad.

Maybee – whose full name is Ava Maybee Cardoso Smith – posted the tribute to the fifth and final single from her dad’s band’s eighth studio album By the Way on Instagram, performing the track’s post-chorus accompanied by a choir of tracked backing vocals.

It comes after she released her debut single ‘Lay Low’ in December of last year.
