Live music is coming back to Australia, and we’re so grateful. But, watching this performance of Crowded House covering Split Enz‘s ‘I Got You’ to a packed ampitheatre in Queenstown is a sombre reminder of how far we’re yet to go.
Crowded House are currently on a tour of New Zealand where pre-COVID normalcy has been achieved, and last night they played Queenstown’s Gibbston Valley Winery.
After a sprawling setlist, which also reportedly included a cover of David Bowie‘s ‘Heroes’, the band closed their set and their second encore with ‘I Got You’, a song courtesy of Neil Finn and Paul Hester’s pre-Crowded House band Split Enz.
Crowded House shared a snippet of the performance on their social media, and it’s a glorious sing-a-long to watch, even if it’s a feeling we haven’t experienced in some time.
Outside of touring, Crowded House recently announced details around their first album in over a decade, Dreamers Are Waiting, due out Friday, 4th June.
Try not to cry of FOMO at the performance of ‘I Got You’ below.
