Watch Foo Fighters Debut Two New Songs During Their Surprise UK Concert

Not only have Foo Fighters pulled a proverbial RKO out of nowhere by using a secret UK gig to announce the news that they’ll be headlining one of the world’s biggest music festivals — AKA Glastonbury — later this year, Dave Grohl & co also used the surprise hiatus-buster to preview two brand spankin’ new tracks.

Amidst a 24-song setlist of greatest hits and fan faves, the Foos also ambushed fans with the live debut of ‘Sean’ from their Saint Cecilia EP, as well as two never-before-heard songs, which are currently being referred to across the WWW.’s as ‘Keep Your Pretty Promise to Yourself’ and ‘Run With Me’.

The former has the vibe of a stock-standard Foos track in the vein of previous hits like ‘All My Life’ or ‘Times Like These’, whereas the latter is more of an all-out riff assault and sounds like it may have been inspired by the speed rock of one of Dave Grohl’s heroes, late Motorhead legend Lemmy Kilmister.

It’s possible that the fresh tunes, as performed by the Fooies at not-for-profit venue Cheese and Grain in Frome, UK on Friday night, will feature on a brand new album which the band will reportedly be recording later this year.

ICYMI: After the stadium rock ledgehammers got announced to play California’s BottleRock Festival last month, the fest’s event company CEO Dave Graham told the Napa Valley Register that the group would be “in the studio” all year “recording a new album” and spruiking BottleRock as potentially “their only show in 2017 in North America”.

Meanwhile, drummer Taylor Hawkins recently told NME that Team Foo hope to “hunker down” and start work on their new album soon, too.

Catch snippets of the two new Foos choons — which may represent our first taste of the forthcoming follow-up to 2014’s Sonic Highways — below.
