Metal and TV game shows are two things that don’t generally go hand in hand, but their two worlds collided overnight when Killswitch Engage guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz appeared as a contestant on the long-running daytime TV franchise beloved by housewives across the US, The Price Is Right. And much like those old school housewives, Adam D. cleaned house.
The axeman took the Drew Carey-hosted gameshow for pretty much all it was worth, scooping up a brand-new car before advancing to the ‘Showcase Showdown’ following a strong performance on the legendary wheel. Then the composer of such blazing metal hymns as Fixation on the Darkness and This Fire Burns annihilated the competition to walk away with a new black truck and a holiday, plus a boatload of other swag worth more than a collective $50,000.
And he was pretty chuffed about it too. Watch Dutkiewicz hulk up with excitement about his dream win in the video below.
Meantime, Killswitch bandmate Jesse Leach tuned into the broadcast live, posting his reaction on instagram with the tagline: “I think I broke things” #AdamD #ThePriceIsRight”.
As a bit of extra trivia: did you know Adam Dutkiewicz is not the first badass motherfucker to appear on the iconic gameshow? Actor Aaron Paul, better known as Jesse Pinkman on the hit TV series Breaking Bad, also had a famous appearance on The Price Is Right prior to his days as a revered meth cook, back when Bob Barker still hosted.
