Watch: Kirk Hammett Shows Off His Horror Collection

Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett has spoken in depth about his horror collection – as detailed in his hardback book Too Much Horror Business, which came out earlier this year.

Hammett took the San Francisco Chronicle on a tour of his collection – showing them many of the items that were featured in the 228-page, 300+ photo book.

“I’ve been into [horror] stuff since I was five years old . . . My love for this stuff is insane and totally obsessive-compulsive. It’s just one of those things. I’m still waiting to outgrow it or get tired of it or get bored with it. But it does not seem to happen.”

Hammett also revealed that he’s been showing his two young children the collection of monster movies that he grew up on.

“The other day (my kids and I) watched Bride Of Frankenstein, and they loved it.”

Hammett’s son also took quite a liking to Ghostbusters – and didn’t need to hold daddy’s hand during the film either.

“I said to the younger one, ‘This is a little scary, but I’ll be sitting right next to you.’ And he goes, ‘You don’t have to do that, Dad. I’m tough.'”

Metallica will be headlining the sold-out Soundwave Festival around the country in February and March. It’s unclear whether Hammett has requested horror comics in the rider yet.
