Watch Run The Jewels Shut Down A Violent Stage Invader At SXSW

Written by Tom Williams on March 17, 2015

A frightening incident has occurred during a Run The Jewels performance at South By Southwest in Austin today, with one man storming the stage in an apparent attempt to attack the rap duo.

As amateur footage from the incident (below) shows, a man walks onto the stage and is pushed away by Killer Mike when he gets a little too close for comfort. Fortunately, El-P and Run The Jewels’ security team managed to chase the man off stage.

Once the man is back in the crowd, Killer Mike can be heard swearing at the man and starting a “Fuck boy” chant. Other videos of the incident show the man being attacked by other SXSW attendees and, according to El-P, members of Run The Jewels’ team.

“Those weren’t audience members fucking [the attacker] up that was our people. We are about peace but don’t make the mistake of thinking we are alone,” El-P has posted to Twitter.

Run The Jewels were able to return to their set following the incident, and El-P has thanked fans for their patience. “Thanks to everyone who watched us rock the Spotify house! sorry for the brief interruption,” he tweeted after the show.
