Watch Tenacious D And Jack White Meet Up For ‘Jack Gray’ Collaboration

Last week, we learned Tenacious D (the musical comedy duo of Jack Black and Kyle Gass) had recently recorded in Nashville with none other than Jack White himself – fulfilling the internet’s long-running prophecy of the two Jacks coming together to become ‘Jack Gray’.

Now, we have video confirmation of the collab, with a behind-the-scenes doco uploaded onto YouTube.

The video follows the band throughout their Nashville stop, including their trip to the White’s Third Man Records HQ along with White’s home studio, where the D recorded.

“We’re heading over to Jack White’s house to record a single,” Black says in the video  on the way to White’s home studio. “Me and KG have been working on a jam. It’s not quite done, it needs a little work, but I think that’s where Jack White comes in and helps us pull it over the finish line.”

“This is a legendary collab. The D with Jack White. Everyone’s been waiting for it. Now it’s here.”

Unfortunately, video footage was not allowed throughout the song’s actual recording, but afterwards Black comments “I wish you could have been filming, because it was magical.”

“I just can’t wait for it to come hot off the press,” he adds.

There’s no word yet on an official release date for the team-up, but it’s set to be released on Third Man.

The video also includes behind-the-scenes footage of Tenacious D‘s Lollapalooza set in Chicago, along with the band covering the White Stripes hit ‘Seven Nation Army’.
