Watch The Cat Empire Funk Up Lykke Li’s ‘Get Some’ For ‘Like A Version’

Melbourne ska and jazz legends The Cat Empire have stopped by the triple j studios to cover Get Some by Swedish muso Lykke Li for the broadcaster’s weekly covers segment Like A Version.

Felix Riebl and company dropped their cover of the Lykke Li classic after teasing ‘triple j Breakfast’ hosts Matt Okine and Alex Dyson with the pretty cryptic clue “Ice Cream Bruce Lee”.

Get it? Ice Cream = “Lykke”, Bruce Lee = “Li”? Yeah, it’s weird.

Once the song’s true identity was revealed, The Cat Empire’s funky take on the track (below) saw the band pair organ sounds with a trio of horns and some A+ smooth vibes which kicked off Friday with a bang.

While in the triple j studios, the group also performed their original song Bulls, which features on their latest album, Rising With The Sun. Catch both performances in full, below.

The Cat Empire are currently making their way around Australia as part of a huge national tour which will take them through to the beginning of June.
