Perth rockers Tired Lion have graced triple j‘s Like A Version covers segment with a performance of Violent Soho‘s Saramona Said, complete with a snippet of the Smashing Pumpkins classic, 1979.
Tired Lion’s cover of Saramona Said — a track taken from Violent Soho’s 2013 album Hungry Ghost — was slightly more measured than the Brisbane band’s blistering original, but was capped off by the snarly vocals of frontwoman Sophie Hopes and a sneaky Pumpkins verse.
“We had to put that [verse] in there,” the group said after the performance. “They’re basically our favourite band, and we wear them on our sleeve.”
While in the triple j studio, Tired Lion also performed their original track I Don’t Think You Like Me. Catch clips of that performance and their Violent Soho/Smashing Pumpkins cover, below.
