In an odd move, U2 have chosen to mark their first US music festival performance in 41-years by mashing up their year 2000 chart-smasher ‘Beautiful Day’ with Red Hot Chili Peppers’ classic ‘Under The Bridge’.
Bono veered unexpectedly into a chorus of The Chili’s lonely California love ballad following Edge’s guitar solo during the Irish rock titans’ headlining set at Bonnaroo on Friday.
The crowd seemed to dig it, picking up on the shift pretty quickly and starting to sing along.
It’s a bit of a strange one, and our guess is you’ll either be very cross or very happy about it. If it’s the latter, you can sign this petition to bring U2’s mammoth Joshua Tree anniversary tour down under.
