Melbourne’s much loved White Night festival will return in February 2015 and organisers are now accepting submissions from artists interested in participating in the event. Following two hugely successful years, White Night will again transform the city with street performances, multimedia installations, film screenings and live music.

Taking place from 7pm Saturday, February 21st until 7am Sunday, February 22nd, White Night will coincide with Soundwave 2015, which will debut its two day format next year. All through the night, interactive events and performances are set to take place in the sprawl of venues and public spaces throughout the city.

The 2014 lineup included an impressive slew of local talent, including Client Liaison, Beaches, The Murlocs, Baptism Of Uzi, and Black Cab, as well as an interactive tribute to rock legend Prince. The full 2015 lineup is expected to be announced in December.

Expressions of interest from performers, artists, businesses and organisations to participate in the 2015 event are now open. Artistic Director Andrew Walsh has invited interested artists to submit works and ideas for programming, which you can do so here.

More than 500,000 people flooded into Melbourne’s city centre on February 23rd this year for the second annual event, and Walsh is expecting even more in 2015. He told Fairfax Media they are currently working on expanding the event’s footprint, so that it encompasses more of the city and helps facilitate better pedestrian traffic.

“We’re still negotiating with the powers that be,” he said. “It will have to extend into Russell Street and Elizabeth Street, and I would expect that those streets would be partially closed and, in some places, fully closed.”
