Following this morning’s news that Splendour In The Grass-certified singing talent Sky Ferreira would supplement her Byron appearance with two sideshows, Wild Beasts have now announced two headline dates set for Melbourne’s Prince Bandroom and Manning Bar in Sydney this July.
Kicking off this Monday, 28th July at Manning Bar, the English four-piece will be leaving the soaring, emotive tunes that have so far spanned five highly acclaimed albums, stuck in the heads of fans who’ve come to know them for their understated, textured music and intelligent, diary-like lyrics.
The band’s latest offering is Present Tense, which has seen the band take a bold new direction, taking on the influences gathered since their last visit to Australia in 2011, a time spent eschewing touring in order to craft 11 tracks later produced by Lexxx (Foals) and Leo Abrahams (Brian Eno).
The period resulted in an effervescent and electronically-tinged record that recalls the synth music of the 1980s and 1990s, while introducing their own askew take on the genre, resulting in a record that is arguably the most singular and expressive statement of what Wild Beasts have become.
Tickets for Wild Beasts’ Splendour In The Grass sideshows will hit sale at 9:00am Tuesday, 6th May. Readers can check below for all dates and ticketing details and keep up to date with all of the Splendour In The Grass news at our special Feed, and all of the Splendour sideshow news here.
