Just months after dropping a fresh EP on our eardrums, Melbourne heavy favourites Windwaker have backed it up with the announcement of a brand new studio album incoming.
Dubbed HYPERVIOLENCE, the band’s sophomore LP is due to land on Friday, 12th July and we’ve already copped our first taste of it in the form of first cut ‘Break The Rules’, a glitchy nu metal-tinged sonic rollercoaster that veers into a summery pop-punk chorus. Conceptually, the song is driven by a lyrical tug-o-war between two opposing personalities.

“‘Break the Rules’ explores the exchange between two different personalities and the prospect of living life to its fullest,” the band shares in a press statement.
“One side is wild and willing to act out regardless of consequence, encouraging the other, who is more reserved and considerate, but ultimately unable to live beyond the rules of society (and therefore unable to live care-free like the former). To put it plainly, it’s a conversation between an introvert and an extrovert trying to highlight why their way of life is superior to the other, all while accepting the benefit to both approaches.”
