Looks like we’re one Pumpkin away from a full blown OG Smashing Pumpkins reunion, with frontman Billy Corgan heading into the studio with his old m8s James Iha & Jimmy Chamberlin.
Though the concept of the original Pumpkins lineup reuniting has been floating around for a while now, this is the first solid IRL evidence we’ve got that it could actually be, you know, happening.
After beatman Chamberlin dropped the bombshell that fans could be hit with a reunion album this freakin’ year, Corgan has taken to Instagram to share a happy snap of himself in the studio with his old guitarist and drummer.
“Not sure what cross-eyed spy took this photo, but we had a visitor to the studio the other day,” the Pumpkinhead writes. “So many memories when you put the three of us together. @jamesihaofficial @chamberdrums #WPC.”
It comes after the Corgster previously professed a desire to make a record in the vein of SP classics Gish and Siamese Dream with “people who used to be in the band”.
Now all they need is D’arcy Wretzky to come round and it’ll be AWN.
