Odd Future’s Frank Ocean to reissue Nostalgia, Ultra on Def Jam

Odd Future‘s answer to R.Kelly and Usher Frank Ocean looks set to be the second artist from increasingly popular and controversial collective to be commercially released, after reports have emerged from Rap-up that Def Jam would be reissuing his debut release Nostalgia, Ultra, which Ocean put out himself as a free download earlier this year. These reports come as Ocean’s popularity continues to skyrocket on the back of the success of the album as well as his guest spots on Tyler The Creator‘s second album and controversy firestarter Goblin as well as Hodgy Beats and Left Brain‘s collaborative project Mellowhype‘s BLACKENEDWHITE album.

The release is scheduled for July 26th. There has still been no word as to what the paid version will include , however Rap-up has said that Novacane, produced by Tricky Stewart, will be put out as a single ahead of the album release, with the song set for a digital release on May 31st.

Def Jam were originally rumoured to be releasing the album themselves, however when this fell through Ocean took things into his own hands, releasing it himself and posting comments such as “fuck Def Jam & any company that goes the length of signing a kid with dreams & talent w/ no intention of following through. fuck em,” on his Twitter.

In other Odd Future reissue news, it seems that following from the success of Goblin, Mellowhype’s BLACKENEDWHITE album will also be reissued, with the album expected to see a commercial release midway through the year on Fat Possum.
