Zombie Themed ‘New Beginnings Festival’ Cancelled

New Beginnings Festival has cancelled its 2012 event at Morisset Showground on the 14th of January due to the same curse that seems to be hitting most summer festivals this year, poor ticket sales.

Despite adding an apocalyptic theme for this year’s festival, because, after all, the world will end in 2012, where punters were encouraged to dress up as zombies, and offering a bit of nostalgia by including Vengaboys as the headliner of the festival, it wasn’t enough to attract the numbers.

Other great Australian acts, such as Grafton Primary, Hungry Kids of Hungry, Matt Mchugh (from the Beautiful Girls), and even your favourite 80′s childhood musician Peter Combe & the Newspaper Mama Band were also set to appear.

Post on the New Beginnings Facebook:

“Hey guys. I am sorry to tell you that we have cancelled New Beginnings… it is a sad day for us here and we hope we don’t cause too much inconvenience for people planning on attending. Thank you to everyone involved to try and make it happen and all the acts. We are doing some replacement concerts in Newcastle & the Central Coast”

Three shows will be held on the day of the cancelled festival Saturday 14th January.
