Against Me! Bassist Adam Seward Quits, Laura Jane Questions Future Of Band

Adam Seward, the long-serving bassist for Against Me!, has announced that he will be stepping down from his duties. A statement has recently come in from both Seward and guitarist James Bowman who both seem amicable about the split, praising the time they’ve already spent together. Vocalist Laura Jane Grace has, however, expressed concern over the validity of the band, but vows to push on with their forthcoming album.

In a short and sweet statement, Seward is quick to state that there’s “no drama here”:

“I reached a point where I need to focus on other things. Respect to Laura and James. The last 10 years ruled.”

Bowman’s comments are in a similar vein, stating:

“It’s been an honor and privilege to stand on stage with Andrew for the past 10 years. I am sad to see him go, but I wish nothing but the best for him moving forward.”

Laura Jane Grace was a bit more vocal on the topic and far less optimistic. Admitting that she realises that “at this point there’s a possibility that it may look pretty ridiculous to carry on playing under the name Against Me!” she explains that the band’s forthcoming album Transgender Dysphoria Blues is far too important to scrap:

“If I didn’t feel like I had something that I really needed to say with the album we’ve been working on for the past year then I’d humbly hang the hat and move on.”

Transgender Dysphoria Blues is expected to be out later this year. Could this be the last record from Against Me!?
