BIGSOUND 2016 Announces First Round Of Speakers

The countdown to BIGSOUND 2016 has begun, with Australia’s biggest music industry conference trotting out the first official list of speakers for this year’s jumbo 15th anniversary event.

Heading up the conference’s keynote list is UNIFIED’s own Jaddan Comerford, travelling home from his base in New York to share his industry know-how, at a time when his company is pretty much taking over the music world and single-handedly triggering a resurgence in heavy music.

Hip-hop duo A.B. Original featuring Briggs and Trials will also present a highly anticipated keynote interview with Lindsay ‘The Doctor’ McDougall.

Other notable speakers including Conan O’Brien’s own music segment producer Jim Pitt, Wild Card Music Director Marcy Bulkely (who we owe for the music in movies like Independence Day 2, Jurassic World, Inception and more), Good Ear Music Supervisor Jackie Shuman (who’s worked to source commercial music for brands including Google, Twitter, Apple, Samsung and Southern Comfort) and buttloads more.

Unfortunately, despite widespread public outcry, Music Feeds’ wise and powerful Creative Director Mitch Feltscheer will no longer be delivering his planned keynote due to unforeseen circumstances (such as never actually being invited to deliver a keynote speech in the first place).

There’s also A&R reps invading from OS to scope out the 150 hot new Aussie artists TBA on the 2016 lineup, including Universal Music Publishing Group’s Taylor Testa (Kacy Hill, Tobias Jesso Jr), ATO’s Jon Salter (My Morning Jacket, Alabama Shakes), Vagrant Records/BMG’s Jeremy Maciak (The 1975, PJ Harvey), Zac Ives from Goner Records (Jay Reatard, Ty Segall), Emmy Feldman from Canvasback (War on Drugs, Alt-J, Frightened Rabbit), The Royalty Network’s Lawson Higgins (Justin Townes Earle, The Soft Pack) and Secretly Publishing’s Jon Coombs (Bon Iver, Jens Lekman).

Altogether, 100+ speakers and buyers are expected to descend upon Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley for the landmark conference running from September 7th – 9th.
