Chris Cornell Announces Solo Australian Tour Dates

The legendary vocal chords of Chris Cornell are set to return to Australia, along with the rest of him. It feels like the Soundgarden, former Audioslave and intermittent Temple of the Dog frontman only just left, after visiting our shores with the band that started it all, as part of the Soundwave lineup. But he’s just announced plans to return for seconds before 2015 is out, this time, for a solo acoustic tour.

To celebrate the release of his forthcoming solo album, Cornell will perform six intimate, unplugged shows in theatres and concert halls across Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth and Sydney this November and December, showcasing material from the new LP, as well as fan favourites from across his entire catalogue.

The grunge rock icon’s last solo release, 2011’s Songbook, featured stripped-back, live acoustic interpretations of some of his biggest tracks. His forthcoming fifth solo effort, which has yet to be titled, promises a similar brand of expressive intimacy. It’s been slated for release this September.

Tickets for all shows, including two Sydney Opera House dates, will go on sale from 10am, Monday 1st June.
