Coldplay’s Will Champion Plays A Drummer In ‘Game Of Thrones’

Coldplay drummer Will Champion got to really stretch his acting chops last night, with the 34-year-old playing a drummer in the soul-draining latest episode of Game Of Thrones, entitled The Rains Of Castamere.

No news on whether the muso behind songs like Yellow and The Scientist has designs of getting out of the radio-friendly ballad market and into acting, but a bit-part on the hit fantasy series ain’t a bad place to start, even if it was a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it cameo. Champion appears early on in the agonising “Red Wedding” sequence, and he looks like he’s absolutely loving it.

The drummer’s appearance was first announced back in November but he wasn’t the first rockstar to appear alongside Khaleesi and company, with Snow Patrol‘s Gary Lightbody appearing in an episode that aired back in April as a soldier.

Coldplay wrapped up the tour for their sixth studio album, Mylo Xyloto, last December and are believed to be working on its follow-up, while Game Of Thrones continues to drive everyone on your Facebook news feed into a spoiler-revealing frenzy.
