Coldplay Drummer To Feature in Game Of Thrones

Written by Marc Zanotti on November 7, 2012

Coldplay drummer Will Champion has signed on to Game of Thrones to play… a drummer. Sticking with what he knows, Champion will appear in the upcoming 3rd season of the HBO spectacular, which is reported to premiere in the States on March 31, 2013.

Rolling Stone notes that Champion will not be alone as far as notable musician cameos are concerned. Snow Patrol frontman Gary Lightbody will also play a guest role in the forthcoming season. As there’s no word yet on Lightbody’s character, we’ll just have to assume he plays a minstrel who woos Sansa with his lute now that she is once again a single lady (as you may have guessed, I haven’t read the books).

In other Coldplay news, the band’s Australian tour kicks off next Tuesday on November 13 at Melbourne’s Etihad Stadium. The tour will also include a special intimate gig in Sydney on November 15, the location of which is only revealed to competition winners. You can still enter for the chance to win tickets, as the competition doesn’t close until midnight on November 11.
