Courtney Barnett has given an update on the progress of her second album which she’s currently working on.
Barnett released an album this year with Kurt Vile Lotta Sea Lice but it’s been three years since her solo album Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit which won triple j‘s Album Of The Year and three ARIA Awards.
Speaking to Beats 1‘s Zane Lowe who is currently broadcasting from Sydney, Barnett said she’s in the process of picking an album title.
“I’m trying to come up with a title for my new album,” she said.
“It’s all one sentence thoughts, you know trying to come up with something clever.”
She then was pushed by Lowe to reveal whether the album was finished and she replied, “It’s well, I mean, maybe I gave too much away but it’s getting close.”
Zane replied to that saying, “Yeah definitely did because you’re trying to back track right now and that train has left the building. The forthcoming untitled album is complete finished and coming out in March.”
While Barnett laughed, she didn’t confirm that the album would actually be out in the first half of next year but we can only hope. Her Milk Records! label-mate Jen Cloher, however, revealed earlier this year that Barnett’s album would “definitely” be out in 2018 so we’ve got that information to cling to at least.
