Courtney Barnett & Kurt Vile Announce Collaborative Album & Tour Plans

Musical m8s Courtney Barnett and Kurt Vile have announced that they’ve got a collaborative album “coming soon”, and will be hitting the road to play it with an all-star backing band.

Barnett and Vile will be touring around the US this October and November, with Barnett already apologising to fans for the lack of shows in other countries.

“I wish we could take the tour all around the world, but due to both our intercontinental schedules, this is all we can muster for now,” she says.

Speaking of her relationship with Vile, Barnett says, “Somewhere along the dusty road I became friends with this constant hitmaker Kurt Vile.

“I’ve been a huge fan of his songwriting since I first heard his album Smoke Ring For My Halo n now we’ve razzled up a special show for you. Me n Kurt together on stage plus our amazing all-star band that we have called The Sea Lice.”

The Seal Lice consists of a killer lineup featuring Stella Mozgawa (Warpaint), Janet Weiss (Sleater-Kinney, Wild Flag), Rob Laakso (The Violators, The Swirlies, Mice Parade) and Katie Harkin (Sky Larkin, touring member of Sleater-Kinney and Wild Beasts).

Barnett and Vile were spotted recording in an Aussie music studio earlier this year, as producers teased “amazing tracks for your ears coming soon”.

What’s more, Barnett and Vile have teamed up with Plus 1 to donate $1 from each ticket sold on their US tour to the American Civil Liberties Union. Catch all the US tour dates, below.

Barnett released her latest solo single ‘How To Boil An Egg’ last month.
