Delphic Sign to Modular Records

Manchester trio Delphic are the newest act to break free from the eternal greys of northern England and set sail on the good ship Modular, bound for enlightenment via sight and sound.

An act that could have come from no other place and time, Delphic craft a shimmering, genuinely modern sound borne of a combination of futuristic vision and good old fashioned, oft-overlooked feeling.

Echoing of new wave, post-punk and the epic end of the indie rock spectrum, delivered with the kind glistening production glow that could only come after the last 40 years of rock n roll and sonic exploration, Delphic are the next logical step in the Klaxons / Late Of The Pier canon, but at the same time something else entirely.

Rick Boardman, Matt Cocksedge and James Cook are the three main brains behind Delphic, with Dan Hadley joining the trio in the live setting. The band came together as an avenue for the likeminded lads to explore the seemingly endless dimensions of music made with guitars, with a keen eye on the future and a dab handle on technology, and incorporating inspirations and ideas not just within music but those apparent in abstract art, Russian film, literature and existentialism.

Since forming only a year ago, Delphic were integral in the resurrection of widely lauded 90’s Belgian techno label R&S, the first signing to the label in several years. Delphic have now found a more than comfortable home with the spirited kinfolk at Modular.

Bloc Party have also become big fans inviting Delphic as their main support across the European & Japanese headline tours. The group also have festival dates planned for Summersonic / Leeds / Reading / Creamfields / Isle Of Wight amongst others.

For the debut Delphic record, Berlin-based producer Ewan Pearson helmed the boards. Following his work in recent years with The Rapture, Goldfrapp and M83, the Delphic album is set for release in early 2010.

This will be preceded by Delphic’s new single ‘This Momentary’ going to radio / tv from Mon July 13 (serviced by Universal) with Triple J having made the premier of the new single late last week.

The Delphic EP (featuring ‘Counterpoint’ / ‘This Momentary’ & 2 x exclusive remixes) is out August 28.
