Gorillaz Team Up With Mavis Staples & Pusha T On Sinister New Song ‘Let Me Out’

Gorillaz have let another super-collab from their forthcoming comeback album Humanz loose from its cage.

Dubbed ‘Let Me Out’, the creepy track features two very special ~Humanz~ in the form of soul kween Mavis Staples and hip hop kingpin Pusha T, alongside the familiar vocals of Gorillaz frontman 2D.

The sinister soul/rap/electro/punk hybrid, with its ghostly gospel choir harmonies and spine-chilling whispered refrain of “Let Me Out”, will make you think of demonic exorcisms and alligator-thick swamps in the deep American South.

It represents our fifth lick of Gorillaz’ new LP, following on from previously released tracks ‘Ascension’ (featuring Vince Staples), ‘Saturnz Barz’ (featuring Popcaan), ‘Andromeda’ (featuring D.R.A.M.) and ‘We Got the Power’ (featuring Savages’ Jehnny Beth).

Meanwhile, Gorillaz — though notably absent from this year’s Splendour In The Grass lineup — have recently been announced to headline Japan’s Fuji Rock festival, which means Aussie tour dates could still be on the cards for later this year, us being geographically proximate and whatnot.

They’ve also announced a handful of creepy “spirit house” interactive art installation pop-ups at locations across the globe (sadly none in Australia yet though. C’mon, guys cut us some slack).

Check out ‘Let Me Out’ below (and prepare to have to sleep with the nightlight on tonight), and get your ears on Gorillaz’s new LP when it drops on Friday, 28th April.
