GWAR Introduce New Frontwoman, Vulvatron

For the first time since announcing plans to continue their satirical thrash metal outfit without late frontman and founding member Dave Brockie, GWAR have unveiled their new lineup which includes new female warrior and joint vocalist Vulvatron.

While GWAR have not made any official announcements about Vulvatron, she appeared on stage fronting the band at Chicago’s Riot Fest recently alongside Blothar (Mike Bishop), who is returning to the band again after his Beefcake the Mighty character was introduced in 1988.

Clad in purple armour with prosthetic breasts that occasionally shoot blood out onto the audience, Vulvatron is GWAR’s first female member since Slymenstra Hymen left in 2000 and the band’s first frontwoman.

Reports Wondering Sound, Vulvatron is played by Kim Dylla, an accomplished clothing designer and musician who plays in Virginia band Kung Fu Dykes who appeared at the 2013 GWAR-B-Q. Her new position as frontwoman is an evolution for GWAR as their previous female members, who include The Temptress, Amazina and Slymenstra, occupied a supporting role, often as back-up singers and dancers.

This week, Vulvatron posted a photo to her newly-minted Twitter page, captioned with, “After analysis of interaction on your primitive social media networks, I have achieved fluency in your #selfie systems.”

Earlier this year, friends and family of GWAR’s Dave Brockie paid tribute to the late frontman, who went by the stage name Oderus Urungus, by setting his onstage alter ego ablaze as part of a Viking funeral.
