Listen: Parkway Drive Release New Track ‘Dark Days’

Written by Mike Hohnen on September 10, 2012

One of the first sneak peaks into Parkway Drive‘s hugely anticipated forthcoming album has found its way online to the delight of the band’s massive international fan base. Dark Days shows the lads return as tight and as brutal ever.

This marks the first studio effort we’ve heard from the Byron Bay gang since 2010’s Deep Blue. The band revealed that they will be looking to release a new full-length record towards the end of the year/early next, and despite initial issues choosing a producer for the album, it sounds as though the band has found someone who knows just how to channel the well-known Parkway fury.

Dark Days sees the band take a step back more towards the hardcore side of things, changing it up from the stadium metal we heard in the more recent works. The subject matter also hints to this, exploding the hardcore theme of accepting ownership over one’s decision, as opposed to the more emotionally driven content.

But don’t worry, you can still expect about 5+ breakdowns, juicy growls, pinch harmonics and plenty of shrectacular guitar work.

Parkway Drive will be teaming up for the first time in many years with I Killed the Prom Queen for the Atlas tour taking place later in the year. Epitaph and Resist Records will be releasing more information on the album in the coming days. Get keen!
