Promoters Say Tyler, The Creator Has Not Been “Banned” From Australia, Yet

Promoters of Tyler, The Creator‘s upcoming Australian tour have denied reports that the rapper has been refused a visa into the country after he himself took to Twitter overnight to announce he has been “banned” from entering the country.

“With respect to media reports that Tyler, The Creator’s visa has been refused, Frontier would like to advise that this is not the case,” promoters Frontier Touring told Music Feeds in a statement.

“The department for immigration has raised issues with the visa application, but it has not been refused and Frontier will update ticket holders as soon as more information comes to hand”.

The September tour was placed under scrutiny last month when activist group Collective Shout circled a petition urging immigration Minister Peter Dutton to stop Tyler, The Creator from entering Australia because his lyrics advocate, “rape and extreme violence against women”.

At this stage, Tyler, The Creator’s tour is still due to kick off in Brisbane on 3rd September, before moving to Sydney, Melbourne and Perth. Stay tuned for more details.
