Soundwave 2016 Dates Announced

UPDATE 17/12/15 5.50pm: Soundwave 2016 has been officially cancelled.

Less than a month after this year’s event officially wrapped, organisers have announced the dates for Soundwave 2016, confirming previous reports that the festival would be returning to a single day format.

The 2016 festival will kick off in Brisbane on Saturday 23rd January, followed by a stop in Sydney on Sunday 24th January and will finish up in Melbourne on the Australia Day Public Holiday of Tuesday 26th January 2016.

As suspected, the festival will not travel to Adelaide or Perth in 2016. Boss AJ Maddah previously announced that after its brief experiment with a two-day format this year, Soundwave will return to a being a single day event in 2016.

In other Soundwave news, two acts have already been locked in for the 2016 festival. Yesterday chief AJ Maddah exchanged words with Sydney metalcore stars Northlane, seemingly accepting their request to join the lineup.

Meanwhile, the first act confirmed by the festival boss for the 2016 instalment was Mansfield’s finest, Violent Soho, who Maddah said he was “very proud to have” onboard. It has also been confirmed that English rockers Muse will not perform as part of Soundwave 2016, due to their commitments in the US at the time.

Organisers have said more Soundwave information and announcements will follow next week. Stay tuned to the Soundwave 2016 lineup rumours and info page for all the latest.
