UNIFY Gathering Drops More Juicy Details About 2018 Event

UPDATE: The full 2018 UNIFY Gathering lineup has now been announced.

ORIGINAL STORY: The clock is counting down until UNIFY Gathering drops its “incredibly special” 2018 lineup on August 31st, and to hype us all up for it even more, the heavy music festivus has unveiled a bunch of juicy new details about next year’s Victorian bush mosh party.

The biggest thing you need to note down is that they’ve shaken up the ticketing process, with tix now going on sale just hours after the lineup announcement, so FYI you won’t have very long to get your shit together.

“The capacity for UNIFY 18 will remain the same as UNIFY 17,” organisers write. “We will have 7500 tickets available. This year the ticket will cost $219 for all 3 days.

“We suggest you start making plans now because – trust us – if you loved our first three years lineups, you’re going to REALLY love our 2018 lineup!”

BUT the good news is, povo punters can still score tickets even if they don’t have a spare $219 handy, thanks to an ingenious new payment system.

“This year, we have decided to try something different,” organisers explain. “We now have the option of Afterpay where you don’t need to pay for your tickets up front – you can set it up to pay it all in instalments. That means secure it now and pay it later.”

Yeehaw!

In other changes to next year’s punk, metal and hardcore bash, organisers are introducing yoga classes on site “for those who want to get nice and limber for the mosh”. Bit strange but we’ll take it.

There’s also a bunch of new additions to the accommodation options for next year, including:

  • “A very limited VIP option which enables you to stay at a house near beach in nearby Venus Bay. We’ll have shuttles taking people to and from the site, and you’ll get to enjoy all the comforts of staying at a nice holiday house just 5-10 minutes from the festival.”
  • “A quiet, alcohol free camping area called The Sanctuary, giving you more options in the campsite.”
  • “A new camping option called KarTent. Basically, you pay a little extra and we will set up a nice little two-person tent on site for you so you can just rock up and not worry about putting up a tent. These are made of 100% water proof recycled cardboard, and are eco-friendly and really comfortable.”

Finally, in another big win for cash-strapped headbangers, UNIFY are making their bus trips from Melbourne cheaper in 2018.

“A major change in 2018 is we are making the UNIFY Buses that depart from Southern Cross Station cheaper, as well as introducing our official partnership with Banana Bus who pick up and drop off from 15 suburban locations in Melbourne,” organisers say.

“To encourage bus travel, as well as to try and decrease traffic on the roads and the overall carbon footprint of the festival, parking will cost money – BUT you’ll get a refund in UNIFY credit to use onsite if you have 3 or more ticket holders in your car upon arrival. This coincides with our encouragement of carpooling, and the creation of an official UNIFY carpooling group that will launch in September.”

Got it? Good!

The festival has already announced its dates for 2018, confirming that it’ll all go down from January 12 to 14.

Now to commence waiting position for the lineup to arrive!
