Ahead of her cover, Blasko told triple j‘s Matt Okine and Alex Dyson that Bowie’s death has really affected her.
“I feel like I know David Bowie, so I’ve been really sad all week,” Blasko said. “It was really weird news, so this feels like an amazing thing to do… Feels like a good way to put out the emotions.” Catch her performance in full, below.
Blasko’s Bowie tribute comes after local rockers Gang Of Youths shared a gorgeous cover of Bowie’s song Heroes. Luckily, both Aussie efforts are much better than Smash Mouth’s attempt.
Bowie, who died last weekend after an 18-month battle with cancer, released his final album, Blackstar, two days before his passing, on his 69th birthday. His body is said to have been secretly cremated in New York.
