French duo Cassius are set to release their first full length LP since 2006 record 15 Again. We hadn’t heard a whisper from the guys since the 2010 hit single I Love You So, so when they dropped new single Action last week it came as a shock to most.
This new track features Beastie Boy Mike D, and Chan Marshall aka. Cat Power. It’s an upbeat, afro-disco fusion tune that packs some punchy bass and percussion. Now Cassius have revealed that Cat Power will again feature on the upcoming LP, the name of which will be released soon.
Chatting to triple j’s Richard Kingsmill, one half of Cassius Phillipe Zdar said that Cat Power will feature on three songs on the album, others of which will feature her more typical, slow-jam style. Zdar could also reveal that master of vocal versatility Pharell Williams will feature in a guest spot on the album.
“It has a meaning for us, it’s a utopia-esque record – there’s a story behind it. Not a concept but a story. I don’t know if it’s good or bad or the best but all I know is I really, really love it. I go back to it and still tripping on it,” Zdar added of the album.
Hinting at the album’s titled he said: “It’s the name of a place, a new place that we are inventing; a place that everybody has inside of [themselves] and we really want to live there. That’s all I can tell you.”
Stay tuned for more details.
