Punk rock motormouth Henry Rollins is returning to douse Aussie fans with his flamethrower of truth this September, but many punters have been wondering why the hell a Sydney date has been conspicuously MIA from his whopping 18-date tour announcement.
Well surprise motherfuckers! It ain’t no more. The Black Flag rocker/guy who doesn’t know the meaning of the term “inside voice” has just officially announced a spoken word show in the NSW cap, which will take place as part of the fabulously-named Festival Of Dangerous Ideas.
Said festival styles itself as a place “where leading thinkers and culture creators from around the world converge for one weekend to discuss and debate the important ideas of our time” which, if you’re a fan of Rollins, you’ll know is pretty much bang-on his shouty M-O.
And it’s set to see the outspoken justice activist go where he’s never gone before.
“As always, I am greatly looking forward to being back in beautiful Australia and am extremely excited about being onstage in the Sydney Opera House for the Festival of Dangerous Ideas,” the man himself said in a statement.
“I’ve only seen the SOH from the outside and having spent many of my first shows in Australia almost thirty years ago, loading out the gear through a sea of empty beer cans, this will be quite a memorable experience. Truly, I can’t wait.”
Rollins will grace the iconic concert hall stage on the evening of Saturday, 3rd September as part of the festival’s huge list of speakers and performers.
Since he last visited us in 2012, the punk poet has been busy making a number of TV series for National Geographic and the History Channel, had his first starring role in a feature film (He Never Died), and been a part of one of the greatest live music/silent film projects ever, alongside the likes of Lemmy Kilmister, Iggy Pop and other legends of the game in the upcoming film, Gutterdämmerung.
