So it turns out Tkay Maidza wrote a bunch of songs that didn’t make it onto her self-titled debut album last year, and she’s just unveiled one of them — an absolute banger called ‘Glorious’.
The song has been lifted from the soundtrack from HBO’s hit show ‘Girls’, and Tkay told triple j that the show’s creator Lena Dunham reached out to her to get involved. Dunham is apparently a massive fan of Maidza.
“Girls reached out to my US label asking if we had any unreleased songs for their final ever season as Lena knew who I was and is apparently a fan of mine,” said Maidza. “They wanted something for a party scene and I have maybe 5-10 songs that are basically finished but didn’t make the cut for my album.”
The track aired on the show’s second last episode ever overnight in the US.
