PREMIERE: YoWo Music Deliver A “Warm Exploration Of Identity” On Heady New Jam ‘Built For Boys’

YoWo Music, the Melbourne-based contemporary music program for girls and gender non-conforming high school kids, have announced the imminent arrival of their debut album Work Like That on Friday, 23rd November.

Recorded over a six-month period, this nine-track collection of strong, heartfelt songs from Melbourne’s brightest young female and GNC musicians delves into multiple music genres including pop, rock, jazz, and folk.

The big announcement comes punctuated by the arrival of lead single & music video ‘Built For Boys’, which you can catch premiering exclusively via Music Feeds below.

Described as “a warm exploration of identity”, the upbeat toe-tapper packs a joyful clip that takes us behind-the-scenes with YoWo Music’s participants and alumni as they workshop the songs for the new LP.

Speaking on the inspiration behind the track, songrwiter and YoWo alumnus Lily Harnath says the song is “about one of my friends trying to find her identity, but I also think it relates to most people’s search for where and how they belong in the world”.

Check it out below, and you can catch the YoWo Music fam celebrating their debut album release with an all-ages launch show at Melbourne’s iconic Evelyn Hotel on Sunday, 25th November.
