The Chats Reflect On The Time Dave Grohl, Josh Homme And Alex Turner Showed Up To Their Gig

“Don’t fuck it up.”

That’s, apparently, the advice Dave Grohl gave to The Chats before they went onstage at The Regent in LA back in July. As you may recall, Grohl, along with Josh Homme, Alex Turner and Matt Helders of Arctic Monkeys all turned up to the show.

Now, speaking to NME while in the UK for Reading Festival, the band have reflected on the experience.

“We knew Josh was coming because we texted him,” said the band, noting that they’d supported Queens of the Stone Age on tour in Australia.

“He was like, ‘Chuck us on for a plus three’, and we thought he was bringing his kids. I walked outside to go on stage and there’s Dave Grohl, and all the boys. They were just cool dudes. Dave Grohl actually told me “Don’t fuck it up” before we went on, which was really funny. Really good dude.”

When asked who they’d record with if given the option, the band pointed to Los Angeles recording studio Sound City, which Grohl directed and produced a documentary about back in 2013.

“I want to go to Sound City, Dave Grohl. Let’s do it.”

Last month, The Chats released latest single ‘Identity Theft’ and announced a national tour to kick off in September.

Watch the band’s discussion in the video below. Talk around the show starts at about the 3:10 mark.
