Real name Tione Jayden Merritt, the 19-year-old Bronx rapper has experienced unbelievable viral fame in recent years with a string of catchy hits. His debut album, 2019’s TRUE 2 MYSELF, ran up some massive numbers, eventually achieving platinum status.

He’s managed to keep that hype going in the years following, hitting his stride once again with new single ‘Calling My Phone’ alongside 6LACK. Since its release on Friday, 12th February, it has consistently hit 4 million daily streams, accumulating 25 million streams total.

‘Calling My Phone’ is out now everwhere and you can grab it right here.

Review:

‘Calling My Phone’ is a woozy and trippy haze of a listen, with The Weeknd-style midnight R&B production with some subtle but heavy bass. Lil Tjay keeps his animated rapping style, but it feels far beyond his age. 6LACK waltzes in, matching Tjay’s subdued attitude with silky smooth vocals. It’s a song that is absolutely meant for 3am listening.
